Community Living Services
TMI's mission and core values are the driving force behind our emphasis on helping people develop skills so they can be independent. It is imperative that all individuals be accepted, included and valued members of our communities.

BECOME A RESOURCE PARENT
As a licensed Resource Family Agency (Foster Family Agency), Toward Maximum Independence (TMI) believes all youth belong in families. We strive to find Resource Families for youth with special needs in San Diego County who are unable to remain with their family of origin. Youth thrive when they feel safe, secure and loved. It is our goal to recruit Resource Families who can offer these comforts that should be afforded to all youth. Could you be the one to transform a life?

Some of Our Community Partners
"TMI has become a bright and uplifting presence at Inland Valley Hospital, bringing comfort, connection, and meaningful moments to both patients and staff. Whether it’s offering a warm blanket, sharing a laugh, or simply showing up with a kind smile, these individuals provide more than just companionship—they bring warmth, joy, and a genuine sense of belonging." For patients, these visits are "a powerful reminder that they’re not alone, and that human connection remains a vital part of the healing process. At its heart, TMI is about people helping people—in quiet, meaningful ways that leave a lasting impact. Because sometimes, healing begins with a smile, and grows through compassion, connection, and everyday acts of kindness."
